What strikes me here is how physical constraints of production dictate the marketing. The forge god has to remain aniconic because if you show the forge, the competitor copies your tempering temperature. The indigo dyer can display the blue because the pigment is its own marketing; you cannot copy the fermentation recipe just by looking at the cloth. Blueness is the original open-source proof of work.
